The future addition to the Galaxy Note line will be revealed on Sept. 4 in Berlin at the IFA tech show. The device will be revealed at an event called “Samsung Unpacked 2013,” which will be streamable online. The Galaxy Note 2 was a very popular device with a 5.5-inch screen, a 1080p display, and a 1.6GHz quad-core processor. So, naturally, the anticipation of the new device is exhausting to some Galaxy Note series fans.
What Can We See In The Galaxy Note 3?
The Note 2 already had fantastic specs, so if we see some improved specs in the Note 3, it will definitely be a hit. Though not much is known for certain right now, there are a lot of rumors floating around.
One thing is for certain; the Note 3 will be a phablet. The device is rumored to have anywhere from a 5.7-inch screen to a 6.3-inch screen. Whether a 6.3-inch screen will be regarded as too impractical for making phone calls will depend on the user. You can get an idea for yourself by putting a Nexus 7 to your ear. It works for some people. Others may be better off with the Galaxy S4.
The device will also most likely have the signature S Pen stylus. The S Pen that comes with the Galaxy Note 2 can be useful for many tasks, as it gives the user precision and added functionality. The Note 3 might also contain the same Multi-Window navigation and the smorgasbord of sensors that were included in the Galaxy S4. There has been talk of flexile screens, and while Samsung has successfully demoed the finished version of its flexible screen in June, we’re not likely to see such technology in devices until next year.
Some rumors are circulating that the Note 3 will be paired with an Android smart watch. This smart watch, denoted Samsung Gear, may be Samsung’s response to Apple’s iWatch that is in development. The iWatch might be announced by the end of the year, and recent filings have shown that Samsung might actually be closer to releasing their smart watch faster.
Further rumors have projected that the device will come running Android 4.3 (Jelly Bean) and that it will contain Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 800 quad-core processor, clocking at 2.3GHz. It has also been stipulated that the Note 3 will have a 13MP rear camera, which would be an improvement over the Galaxy Note 2’s 8MP rear camera considerably. Also, it has been rumored more than once that the Note 3 will feature 3 GB of RAM, and if this actually turns out to be the case, it will be the first mobile to do so. Only the Ubuntu Edge, which is still being funded, can be said of having more memory.
The Future Is Bright
Although not much information is available about the Galaxy Note 3 yet, excitement is warranted. It will likely have a larger screen than its predecessor, which will be seen as an enhancement to many. The Galaxy Note 2 price is currently Rs. 27,500, so we would not be wrong in assuming that the Note 3 would cost somewhere around Rs. 38,000.
One great thing about phablet devices is that you can use one device to get two experiences. Carrying around a phone and a tablet can be excessive. If you are satisfied with a screen somewhere between 5 and 6 inches, the Note 3 may be the ideal device for you to carry with you everywhere.
It’s also anticipated that the device will have a stronger processor, better rear camera, and be running Android 4.3. If it comes with a smart watch accessory, this could be hit or miss. Although it has the potential to bring a really unique user experience, it could also end up being just another gadget we feel obligated to carry around.
