Today is National Technology Day, which India has been celebrating every 11th of May since the day was declared by erstwhile Prime Minister Late Atal Bihari Vajpayee to recognise India’s achievement of successfully carrying out a series of nuclear tests in 1998.

This was also the day when India’s first indigenous aircraft, Hansa-3 took its first flight.

India has come a long way since then and is now recognised as one of the IT capitals of the world with a formidable tech workforce. What started in 1974 with the mainframe manufacturing company, Burroughs, asking its India sales agent, Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) to provide programmers for the installation of system software for an American client, is now a gigantic industry.

And not just IT, auto industry, esports, fintech, healthtech, India has been succeeding in niche tech branches among existing traditional ecosystems.

The Tech Panda asked several business technology owners what the National Technology Day meant to them. Here’s what they said.

Vishwastam Shukla, CTO, HackerEarth

“21st century technologies and the industrial revolution have long been blamed for the climate issues we see today. With the advent of digital and data technology, the tech sector can play a huge role in building sustainable and eco-friendly systems for the future.

Companies need to start working with a ‘technology eco-advantage” and build sustainability goals into their processes

“Companies need to start working with a ‘technology eco-advantage” and build sustainability goals into their processes. A combination of process automation, carbon data transparency, and clever product design can help companies achieve profitability with an eye on net-zero and other ESG goals.

“By rethinking the traditional, companies can affect major changes in the areas of digitized operations, product and service design, cloud computing, and data sharing and ecosystem building and management.”

Himanshu Aggarwal, Co-founder & CTO, Qandle

“Technology is interwoven into our daily functioning, it has radically revolutionised the way we live. With Qandle, we have used modern technologies, including AI/ML and now, our solutions can completely take over the mundane HR tasks of organisations, and leave space for HRs to pursue more strategic roles.

This National Technology Day, we want to encourage every techie out there to buckle up and continue learning more advanced technologies as it is going to change the face of tomorrow

“This National Technology Day, we want to encourage every techie out there to buckle up and continue learning more advanced technologies as it is going to change the face of tomorrow. As a country, we should aim to be at the forefront of this revolution.”

Sidharth Kulbhaskar, Founder, Myla.in

“On national technology day, we must remind ourselves of the saying of Steve jobs, ‘It’s not a faith in technology, it’s faith in people’.

The best technologies always have ingredients of empowering people and bringing them together both as the creator and user of the technology

“The best technologies always have ingredients of empowering people and bringing them together both as the creator and user of the technology. As humans we shouldn’t forget it.”

Sarvagya Mishra, Co-founder, SuperBot

“In the current era, technology has become something to cherish about. Be it the advances in medical sciences, where once impossible treatments are now done in just a few hours, or people working together while sitting in different parts of the world.

It’s enthralling to see the entire nation celebrating this wave of technology together with more tech-based companies getting launched, creating more jobs, and contributing to the economy

“Technology has touched every aspect of our lives, while helping us to lead our daily lives with much ease, allowing us to invest our time in doing the smart work instead of mundane tasks. And it’s enthralling to see the entire nation celebrating this wave of technology together with more tech-based companies getting launched, creating more jobs, and contributing to the economy”.

Harshit Mittal, Co-founder & CTO, SupplyNote

“While the pandemic has been extraordinarily disruptive to food businesses, there are some silver linings that have emerged from the chaos. Food and beverage companies re-evaluated their supply chains and business strategies to become more resilient as the outbreak expanded.

Food and beverage companies re-evaluated their supply chains and business strategies to become more resilient as the outbreak expanded. They have understood the importance of technology and automation more than ever

“They have understood the importance of technology and automation more than ever. With the increasing demand for delivery meals, concepts like ghost kitchens are helping operators scale the business without the overhead costs of dining space or front-of-house staff.

“In casual dining and QSR, contactless and QR ordering have become ubiquitous. Another trend catching up is the need for automated inventory management, which refers to tracking food and beverage inventory stock, anticipating quantities, and scheduling orders. With automation, it no longer has to be a time-consuming and tedious process.”

Ritesh Varma, Global Head: Business Solutions, Newgen Software

“Organisations have always wanted to transform to create business differentiation. While the pandemic made it urgent for enterprises to embrace the digital, now they are striving to accelerate their digital initiatives to stay competitive.

With digital acceleration, enterprises across industries can automate their end-to-end processes, while enhancing customer experience, operational excellence, and business innovation

“With digital acceleration, enterprises across industries can automate their end-to-end processes, while enhancing customer experience, operational excellence, and business innovation.

“The secret sauce to accelerating digital lies in ‘hyperautomation’. Every organisation must enable enterprise-wide hyperautomation and run multiple programs in a coordinated manner to achieve holistic transformation while ensuring compliance, security, and governance.”
