Connectivity

India’s eSIM market moves past regulatory hurdles, with Sim Local named one of the top providers in 2025

The adoption of eSIM technology has surged globally in recent years. These digital SIM cards offer users enhanced flexibility and convenience for international travelers.

eSIMs help travelers avoid expensive roaming charges and provide enhanced reliability and security for business tourists who need connectivity throughout their stay.

Yet while eSIMs have been growing in popularity across India, the Indian Department of Telecommunications (DoT) directed Apple and Google to remove some eSIM providers from their respective app stores in 2024.

The move was taken due to concerns around fraud and cybercrime.

However, this important protective measure doesn’t mean that eSIMs are no longer available in India.

Sim Local is a global leader in travel SIM technology and the company was recently named by ELE Times one of the top eSIM providers in India.

What international tourists can expect with Sim Local

India continues to draw international tourists. While the reasons vary from exploring the endless cultural sights, visiting family or conducting business, mobile connectivity is essential for any traveller in 2025.

Further, the Indian government has doubled its estimate for foreign tourists visiting Mahakumbh Mela in Uttar Pradesh to 3 million, buoyed by the overwhelming response from overseas visitors.

Whatever the reason for travel, Sim Local is one of the providers offering quality, no quibble refunds and affordability to Indian’s international visitors. With access to local networks in the country, plans that check all the boxes including hotspot and 5G speeds, and support when consumers need it most, the company ensures that travelers stay connected wherever they are.

In particular, Sim Local brings trusted big-name brands to the world of eSIM, giving travelers access to reliable options when choosing a plan.

Here, Sim Local offers the Smartroam eSIM, which operates on the Reliance Jio network in India. They provide a range of data-only plans, including options for unlimited data for 7 or 15 days. Prices start at $3.75 for a 7-day 1GB plan, with larger data packages available for extended stays.
