The Story So Far – 6 Months, 1000 Posts

Well, thanks to the great support we got from you, we have reached our first milestone. It has been 6 months since we started in June, 2012 and we now have 1000 published posts on this website. I, on behalf of my entire team, extend great gratitude to all our readers and supporters.

A lot of people asked me about this journey so far, so I’ll write something in brief. We officially launched on June 1, 2012. The reason I thought we needed yet another startup blog is because you really can’t have enough media sites in this world. There is so much to write about, so much to discover. So, the more the better. At the same time, we thought, startups and entrepreneurs need some amount of support and encouragement every now and then, after all, they are the ones that drive the real economy of the country and create so many jobs.

We started mostly by covering technology news and reviews from all over the world and now have started to streamline our interests and have been focusing more on what the initial plan was.

The traffic has gone tremendously as well (although it’s nothing to boast about, it’s still pretty low). We initially started by getting a handful of visitors each day and now we have close to 10,000 unique visitors in a month from different parts of the world.

What’s coming ahead?

In the days to come, we’ll be focusing more on startups from across the world. If you are a startup, do reach out to us, we’ll be more than happy to talk to you. As readers, you’ll find the content of the site a little different as we are currently doing a restructuring. The reason for that is I felt, over time, the posts have increased and it is a little difficult for new readers to find their way on the site.

None the less, the focus will always be on great content, after all, content is king. You’ll see some great entrepreneurs sharing knowledge, some great startups showcasing their products and some great gadgets to make your life easier.

We have more young writers on board now and we’ll be hoping to make the best use of their young minds. If you are interested to write for us (guest posts are welcome), do let me know.

There are many good people in the world

I’ll share one experience which keeps my faith that there are still many great people around the world. As we started, there was hardly any funds with us. Like any bootstrapped startup, even we tried to get the best things at the lowest prices possible. Now, this incident involve Clicky Analytics and I had been using the free version for sometime and I really love their product. I wanted to upgrade to the premium version but at the same time thought of asking for a discount. I have a rule, I don’t ask for a favor if I don’t offer something in return (in most cases). So, I offered them a promise to keep a Clicky Badge on the site for an entire year if they could offer me some substantial discount and I was running a bootstrapped startup.

Guess what? In an hour or so, I got a free upgrade for an entire year and I proudly display the badge on the site. And I have so many more experiences. So, always keep trust on people, be nice to everyone and you’ll be rewarded as well.
